Picacho Peak, Arizona
Picacho Peak is an AWESOME climb to take someone to for an adventure! You climb up cables for nearly 1/3 of the hike! So great. Not for those with fear of heights. We did not need gloves, and others on the trail told us they took theirs off, as they were too slippery. Bring HAND SANITIZER! Lots of water, too, of course. Even the rangers at the park entrance warned us to bring water.
Guess who went with me? MY MOM! 61 years old and KILLING IT! She’s a beast. SO proud of her.
2,000 ft gain, 3.2 miles (although my watch tracked a bit more).
Picacho Peak State Park - **entrance fee required.
Need a map? They have some at the park entrance, or here’s one for your phone that I used: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/arizona/picacho-peak-via-hunter-trail
