Top of the Mountain to ya!
When your Mount Whitney permit cancels due to fires….don’t just sit on the couch! Nearby you’ll find White Mountain Peak - another 14er in a different mountain range that may be free of fires!
Prepare for a LONG dirt road (no crazy potholes, a car could easily manage) and some SERIOUS altitude. A good suggestion is to camp at the trailhead parking lot, which is around 11,000 ft and can help you acclimate.
Relatively easy 14er if you’re used to them. Gradual incline pretty much the whole way. Expect the best, but prepare for the worst! Lots of water (no water sources on the trail) and food!
